Produced by It's a Laugh Productions and Disney Branded Television, the series serves as a direct sequel and spin-off to the flagship Emmy-winning Disney Channel original series Wizards of Waverly Place, bringing original stars David Henrie and Selena Gomez back to executive produce and reprise their iconic roles. The series earned strong praise from both long-time nostalgic fans and new young audiences for its delightful blend of classic Disney Channel physical comedy, magical misadventures, and heartfelt family dynamics. WHERE TO WATCH & STREAMING AVAILABILITY Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is available for subscription streaming globally on Disney+, presented in high definition and 4K Ultra HD resolution with original English audio, spatial sound, and multi-language subbed and dubbed options. Linear television broadcasts air regularly across Disney Channel networks worldwide. Digital transactional video-on-demand storefronts including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google TV, and Fandango at Home offer full episodes and complete seasons for digital purchase. INTRIGUING FACTS & TRIVIA Original series stars Selena Gomez and David Henrie reunited behind the scenes as executive producers, with Gomez guest-starring in the pilot episode to officially pass the magical baton to a new generation. Young actress Janice LeAnn Brown leads the new cast as Billie, a powerful, rebellious young wizard sent to live with Justin Russo to learn how to control her extraordinary magic. The production brought back classic iconic elements from the original series, including secret portal doorways, enchanted spell books, and humorous magical mishaps that mirror Alex Russo's chaotic teenage years. BACKSTORY & THEMATIC ANALYSIS The narrative picks up years after the original series finale, following an adult Justin Russo (David Henrie) who has chosen to leave his magical life behind to live a normal, non-magical mortal existence with his wife Giada (Mimi Gianopulos) and their two sons, Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko). Justin's quiet suburban routine is suddenly turned upside down when his sister Alex Russo (Selena Gomez) arrives at his doorstep with Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), a powerful young wizard in urgent need of guidance. With dark magical forces threatening the wizard world, Alex convinces Justin to step back into his role as a magic teacher to train Billie and help her master her immense powers. As Justin balances raising his mortal family with secretly training a chaotic young wizard in his home, he must navigate the hilarious challenges of parenting, wizardry, and protecting his loved ones from looming magical threats. Thematically, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place explores mentorship, family responsibility, embracing one's true identity, and bridging generational divides. By contrasting Justin's structured, adult life against Billie's wild, undisciplined magic, the story emphasizes that true guidance requires patience, love, and accepting people for who they are. BEHIND-THE-SCENES INSIGHTS Executive producers David Henrie and Selena Gomez worked closely with showrunners Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas to maintain the nostalgic humor and multi-camera sitcom format of the original 2000s series. The visual effects team updated the franchise's signature magical spells with modern visual effects while preserving the classic, playful physical comedy beats that made the original show a fan favorite. Through its charming lead performances, nostalgic callbacks, and engaging magical storyline, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place delivers a magical, heartwarming continuation of a beloved Disney franchise.
